Covenant Journey is accepting applications for its life-changing tour to Israel this summer. The tour is designed to strengthen the participants’ faith and equip them to be goodwill ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people. Summer tours will be June 6-17, July 11-22, and Aug 1-12.

The Covenant Journey tour is only for college students who are (1) Christians, (2) have the potential for leadership, and (3) support Israel. We have obtained funding to cover the entire cost of the trip. College student selected for the tour pay only a $500 registration fee. Everything else (flights, hotel, three meals a day, bus and tour guide, and all entrance fees) is covered. Generous donors believe that our young people need to experience Israel to strengthen their faith and support of Israel.

A Covenant Journey tour of Israel is unlike any other, as it is designed specifically to motivate its participants to discover and affirm their Christian identity through an experiential journey and educational experience of Biblical, historic, and modern Israel, providing participants with the ability to advocate for Israel upon their return.

The tour will consist of groups of approximately 40-50 students from various Christian colleges and universities.

Each selected applicant will be offered an all-expenses paid, 9 – 11 day tour to Israel originating from New York. Each applicant will only be required to pay a $500 registration fee and flights to and from New York. Except for the registration fee and travel to New York, the tour is fully funded by Covenant Journey, and includes flights from New York to Tel-Aviv and back, hotel, ground transportation, and three meals per day.

Israel matters

There has never been a more important time for Christians and Jews to stand in solidarity with Israel and its right to exist as a sovereign nation. Israel and America share a common bond through our history, heritage, and faith. Along with our shared common values, Israel and America also share common threats. Please see my update below — Mat.

Today, Anita and I begin yet another journey to Israel, accompanied by students from all over the nation as part of our Covenant Journey program. For us, every trip to the Holy Land is filled with awe and a strong renewal of our faith.

Covenant Journey is an exciting ministry of Liberty Counsel whereby students from colleges and universities travel to Israel at a cost to the student of only $500. This is a life-changing experience that strengthens the participants’ Christian faith and equips them to be goodwill ambassadors for Israel.
Covenant Journey (CJ) was developed from the Liberty Ambassador Counsel (LAC) program to connect Americans to Israel on a personal basis, strengthen their Christian faith, and equip them to be a goodwill ambassador for Israel.
Rivka Kidron, former Special Advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, started working with Liberty Counsel in April 2013 as Special Advisor to the Liberty Ambassador Counsel, to help develop that program and more recently, Covenant Journey.

+ + Liberty Counsel is among the foremost pro-Israel organizations in America!

Liberty Counsel’s Christians In Defense of Israel (CIDI) consists of more than 200,000 Americans who stand in solidarity with the nation of Israel.

CIDI was founded by Dr. Ed Hindson, the Dean of the School of Religion and Distinguished Professor of Theology at Liberty University. We will now advance our impactful outreach to Israel through our affiliated organization of Christians in Defense of Israel.
Christians in Defense of Israel and the Liberty Ambassador Counsel connect many thousands of Americans with the nation of Israel, including tours of biblical sites, special briefings by Israeli leaders, and teleconferences with Israeli officials.
+ + Supporting Israel and advancing U.S.- Israel relations is paramount in our 2016 goals.
If you are among the advocates of supporting Israel within the Liberty Counsel family, I am asking you to make a special financial gift today. Click on the banner below to give a gift of any amount to help support our pro-Israel initiatives and our other vital work.
Donate Here+ + If America wants to be blessed, we must bless Israel…

There is a biblical principal that we, as Americans, must heed.  God told Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel… “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3 (NIV)
That command and its associated promise is among the reasons we choose to honor Israel!
+ + America and Israel are linked in God’s economy.
The fault line of Western civilization runs through Israel, and the epicenter is Jerusalem. We strongly affirm Jerusalem as being Israel’s God-ordained, undivided capital.
Radical Islamic Jihadists call Israel the “Little Satan” and refer to America as the “Big Satan.” Israel and America share Judeo-Christian values and consequently have shared the burden of threats to those values. Right now, among the greatest dangers to the people of Israel is the intensifying rhetoric of radical Islamists whose goal is to eradicate the Jews living in Israel. This is a crucially important season for the American people to stand with Israel!

Your gift in response to today’s message also lets me know that we continue to have a dedicated contingent of Christians in Defense of Israel numbered in our base of support!

Covenant Journey Offers Life-Changing Experience in Israel for Christian Millennials

ORLANDO, FL – Covenant Journey, an organization founded by Liberty Counsel, provides a life-changing experience for Christian college-age students who have leadership potential. A Covenant Journey tour of Israel is unlike any other, as it is designed specifically to motivate college students to discover and affirm their Christian faith and identity through an experiential journey and educational experience of Biblical, historic, and modern Israel, providing participants with the ability to advocate for Israel upon their return.

The Covenant Journey tour is only for college-age students who are (1) Christians, (2) have leadership potential, and (3) have some level of support for, or interest in, Israel. College students selected for the tour pay only a $500 registration fee. Everything else is covered by Covenant Journey, including flights from the United States to Tel Aviv, hotel, three meals a day, luxury bus, experienced tour guide, speakers, and all entrance fees.

Below are some testimonies from students who have experienced Covenant Journey:

“This trip has turned my world inside out….This trip will completely transform your life mentally and spiritually. You will be stretched to BELIEVE what you see, and you will be more in tune with God’s heart and God’s vision for the land of Israel, as well as the world.” – Karley

“I am not the same person I was when I left for Israel; my faith is deeper, stronger, and I am awakened to the geopolitical realities of the nation of Israel…. To the future students of Covenant Journey, get ready for your life to be changed in the best way possible.” – Lauren

“I will never be the same again!” – Rachael “This trip was life-changing for me, and I believe that it will also be that way for every young Christian who gets the opportunity to make the trip.” – Daniel

The development of Covenant Journey began in 2011. Template tour programs were conducted until 2014, when the first Covenant Journey tour launched, consisting of about 50 Christian college students. Participants have come from about 140 colleges and universities, including large and small Christian colleges, private and state colleges, and Ivy League schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, and more.

Recent surveys show that, after high school, Christian millennials are disconnecting from their faith at alarming rates. As they disconnect from their Christian faith, they disconnect from Israel and often become anti-Israel and even anti-Semitic.

“The twin goals of Covenant Journey are designed to address these disturbing trends among the millennial generation,” said Mat Staver, Founder and President of Covenant Journey, who is also the Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “The students who are selected for Covenant Journey are Christian leaders and are having a huge impact on their college campuses and in their communities. The only way to describe a Covenant Journey experience is that it is ‘life-changing.’ The impact of Covenant Journey on the lives of Christian millennials is far beyond what we imagined. It is hard to describe. You just have to experience it,” said Staver.

The Covenant Journey website is www.CovenantJourney.org, and the phone number is 407-875-1967. Covenant Journey has offices in Florida and Washington, DC.

Will anti-Israel faction undermine Israel in Dem platform? (CIDI)

0
0
An anti-Israel faction is rising among leftist leaders in the Democratic Party. This is a dangerous turn of events if their voices and views gain expression in the party’s platform. We will be closely monitoring these initiatives.Christians in Defense of Israel (CIDI) is an organization founded to stand in solidarity with Israel and its right to exist as a sovereign nation. I am once again calling upon ALL of our Liberty Counsel friends to stand up for Israel and be counted through Christians in Defense of Israel — Mat.

The Democratic Party’s platform drafting committee is infused with two outspoken, anti-Israel partisans. According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, the committee includes …

• Cornel West, a prominent backer of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement aimed at crippling Israel’s economy and, ultimately, eliminating the Jewish state altogether. West is also known for calling “the Gaza Strip the ‘hood on steroids’ and, in 2014, wrote that the crimes of Hamas ‘pale in the face of the US-supported Israeli slaughters of innocent civilians.’”
• James Zogby, the president of the Arab American Institute, is a pro-Palestinian activist and another backer of the BDS movement. Zogby asserts that Israel is committing “a Holocaust” against the Palestinians and referred to Israelis as “Nazis.”

These two men, among others with mixed histories toward Israel, will be developing the Democratic national platform for 2016 and beyond.

As you may recall, debate raged at the DNC in 2012 over whether to include a statement declaring Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In that same convention, the DNC originally voted to remove “God” from any of their platform language, but backtracked after public outcry.

Let me be clear: We oppose any operative in any political party who seeks to undermine Israel and the Jewish state’s close relationship to the United States.

+ + There has never been a more important time for Christians and Jews to stand in solidarity with Israel and its right to exist as a sovereign nation.

CIDI supports Israel for biblical and national security reasons. Israel is a Middle East bastion of democracy and individual freedom and is the birthplace of the Judeo-Christian concept of the rule of law – which, in turn, became the foundation of America and Western Civilization.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that the United States and Israel are the pillars of Western Civilization and that our nations’ fates are inextricably linked.

We acknowledge Israel’s sovereignty and advocate Jerusalem as Israel’s God-ordained, undivided capital. Joining with Christians in Defense of Israel is a way for you to show solidarity with the Jewish state!

Click here to join with CIDI and declare that you too stand with Israel!

+ + On to Israel!

Today, I depart with a group of elite college-aged students as part of Covenant Journey. Covenant Journey is a life-changing immersive experience in Israel. The tour is designed to strengthen college students’ Christian faith and equip them to be goodwill ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people. Please pray for all of us in this incredible journey to the Holy Land!

God bless you. God bless Israel. God bless the USA!

Liberty Counsel Hosts Summer Internships in America and in Israel

Awakening

Jul 14, 2016

ORLANDO, FL – Liberty Counsel is providing valuable experience through a variety of internship opportunities this summer in Florida, Virginia, Washington, DC and Israel. These interns come from various schools across the nation.

In Washington, DC, students work on national and state public policy. They attend legislative hearings, research legislation, write articles and receive media training. The subject matter varies but covers the gamut of domestic and international public policy.

Liberty University School of Law students participate in litigation internships and some participate in the Constitutional Litigation Clinic where they work on actual cases that have national importance. Other college students receive valuable internship experience in law, Israel and public relations in the Florida office and elsewhere.

The internship program in Israel began this year with students who participated in a Covenant Journey tour in Israel. These students contribute in many ways that match their skills and interest. Covenant Journey was created by Liberty Counsel to take Christian college students who have leadership potential to Israel.

“Liberty Counsel provides unique, practical experience to prepare students for careers in law, public policy, communications, and anything related to Israel,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “It is critical that we invest in this young generation to equip them to be world-changers,” said Staver.

Liberty Counsel is an international nonprofit, litigation, education, and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family since 1989, by providing pro bono assistance and representation on these and related topics.

LGBT Activist Paul Singer’s Tangled Web with Christians to Reach Millennials

Jul 25, 2016

ORLANDO, FL – An article published in The Blaze reveals that Billionaire Hedge Fund titan Paul Singer recently entered into a partnership with Hobby Lobby’s Museum of the Bible (MOTB) to reach Christian college students, but at the same time a Singer-funded organization labels Hobby Lobby as an “enemy of equality.” Using this LGBT propaganda produced by Freedom for All Americans, editorial board member for the Washington Post, Jonathan Capehart, published an article in the Washington Post parroting the Singer-funded organization.

While one Singer-funded organization labels Hobby Lobby an “enemy of equality,” another one of his funded-organizations has entered into a partnership with Hobby Lobby’s MOTB to reach Christian students on college campuses. Singer is working both sides to advance his ultimate goal–same-sex marriage and the LGBT agenda.

Paul Singer and Tim Gill, the founder of Quark and well-known homosexual activist, provided generous funds to launch Freedom for All Americans. This organization created LGBT University to train a new generation of activists. Singer also generously funds the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund and Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry. He created American Unity PAC to elect pro-LGBT candidates and American Unity Fund to lobby legislators. Singer funded the litigation against the California Prop 8 marriage amendment, and was responsible for a handful of New York Republican lawmakers changing their votes to side with same-sex marriage in 2011.

Until recently Singer’s efforts focused on courts, Republican candidates and lawmakers, and young conservatives. Now he is expanding his circle to Christian students on college campuses. Through another of his funded groups, The Philos Project, Singer has entered into a partnership with Hobby Lobby’s MOTB to create “Passages Israel.” On the surface this partnership might seem harmless, but it comes with a warning tag. Singer publically associates his name with Hobby Lobby and Steve Green, the president of Hobby Lobby and Chairman of MOTB.

In 2015, Liberty Counsel turned down millions of dollars from Singer who wanted to partner with MOTB to fund Covenant Journey, a program launched by Liberty Counsel which provides a life-changing experience in Israel for Christian college students who have leadership potential. When Covenant Journey refused Singer’s money, he entered into a partnership with MOTB to create Passages Israel, which copied Covenant Journey. Cary Summer, president of MOTB, insisted on a partnership with Singer. His name helps promote MOTB among the Jewish community and connect with Jewish philanthropists. Singer was not interested in MOTB, but Covenant Journey caught his attention. Despite the obvious red flags, Summers saw this partnership as strategic for his goal regarding MOTB.

On a recent MOTB-Singer funded and managed Passages Israel trip, Dr. Mustafa Abu Sway spoke to the college students in Israel. Abu Sway’s alleged connection to jihad has been longstanding. Some Middle East experts call Abu Sway a “known Hamas activist” who wants Israel to “disappear.”

Why such a person would be allowed to speak to Christian college students is baffling. But the Greens have also had to counter alleged anti-Israel sentiment in the past with the release of the film, “Little Town of Bethlehem.” Produced by EthoGraphics, which has been housed in the Hobby Lobby headquarters, this movie is biased anti-Israel propaganda. At best, the mixed messages are confusing.

While Singer supports Israel, he is also focused on advancing his LGBT agenda in America, and he is working to reach young millennials. With his newly-minted MOTB partnership, he now is playing both sides. He can label Hobby Lobby an “enemy of equality” while entering into a partnership to accomplish his objectives. Parents and colleges should beware.

Will Israel’s one sure friend desert her?

From the desk of Mat Staver:

There is a deeply disturbing development unfolding inside the American church.  It’s an alarming shift that endangers the Jewish state … and it appears to be gaining momentum inside the evangelical world, especially among young adults. With your help, we can fight back with a unique God-given solution.

Anti-Israel forces have launched a cunning and strategic campaign to make Americans’ love for Israel turn cold. Their aim is to change minds about God’s chosen people – to demonize Israel for its alleged “brutal Palestinian occupation.”

These hostile critics are well-funded, well-placed and use books, videos, conferences – even all-expense paid Holy Land tours – to poison the friendship between evangelicals and Israel.

The Washington Post recently reported about this troubling trend…
“Gradually, their ideas are taking hold, especially with young evangelicals.”

As you know, evangelical Christians like you and me have been Israel’s most unwavering defenders for decades. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a gathering of evangelicals recently that, “Israel has no better friends throughout the world.”

But evangelical backing for Israel is now at risk, putting Israel in jeopardy while its bitter enemies sharpen their knives and move in for the kill.

+ + This is a threat you and I must take seriously!

With your help, we can fight back with a unique God-given solution, an inspired, high-potential outreach that is already changing hearts and minds.  This amazing counter-force to anti-Israel propaganda is called “Covenant Journey.”

Launched last year, Covenant Journey is a life-changing 10-day visit to Israel that introduces college-age evangelicals to the Jewish state. And it’s already making a huge impact! I’ve seen with my own eyes how it’s reaching the hearts and minds of young evangelicals – the future leaders of the American church.

“I grew to love Israel by reading my Old Testament, but after visiting Israel, it gave me a push to act for Israel,” said Erica Tomlin, a 19-year-old sophomore at Liberty University who toured Israel, thanks to Covenant Journey. “It changed my career path. Now I want to work on advocating for Israel.”

Anita and I have led seven tours so far, taking more than 300 students from 85 colleges on this groundbreaking Liberty Counsel and Christians In Defense of Israel sponsored program. Words cannot begin to describe the experiences we have shared with these bright and promising students. “Ten best days of my life,” wrote one young woman at the end of a recent tour.

Thanks to generous donors like you, Covenant Journey takes groups of up to 50 students to fascinating biblical and historical sites like the Garden Tomb, Masada, and the Mount of Beatitudes. It also immerses students in modern Israel with expert speakers in government, national security, defense, the Middle East, education, business, and technology.

Students make memories for a lifetime. It’s a powerful and transformational trip – one that builds faith and inspires students to be compelling goodwill ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people.

And every penny invested in Covenant Journey delivers a much greater long-term return, transforming students into forceful champions of Israel. And that’s urgently needed now because evangelical support for Israel is softening.

“You have given me much more than just a ten-day experience,” enthused one Covenant Journey student. “You have given me an experience that will continue to bloom for a lifetime.”

You can make a real and dramatic impact for the future of U.S – Israel relations – and the lives of these future Christian leaders by donating today. Your generosity will send more of our best and brightest young evangelicals to the Jewish state and give them the worldview-shaping experience of a lifetime. Most importantly, you will raise up a new generation of influential and energetic pro-Israel voices.

Will you give now to make that happen – to defend Israel and keep our nation’s bond with Israel strong? Click here or on the Covenant Journey logo to make your best gift possible.

CJ logo

This is an investment with tangible long-term benefits, that’s why I ask you to give generously today.

Thank you for your friendship and love for God’s chosen people!

Sincerely,

Mat Staver, President
Christians in Defense of Israel

P.S. Evangelical support for Israel is under attack but your gift now will ignite love for Israel in the hearts of young believers. You will empower college-age evangelicals to confront hateful anti-Israel propaganda.  And the flame will spread as these bright young leaders become ambassadors for Israel to their peers, churches, and campuses.

Covenant Journey is already making a huge impact. Your generosity will create even more ambassadors for Israel.  Please give now.

A miracle worth exploring (CIDI)

0

Often overlooked, the re-establishment of the Nation of Israel is among the greatest miracles of all time. God is standing with Israel and we must, too.

If you ever doubt God’s Word or wonder whether miracles happen, look to Israel.

No people group has ever been dispersed throughout the world multiple times, suffered so greatly, and yet survived with an intact language in a nation whose heritage and landmarks date back thousands of years.
Ancient Egypt, Persia, Babylon, Rome, and Nazi Germany – they’re all gone. Yet, Israel and the Jewish people have survived.
Out of the ashes of the Holocaust, in 1948 a small population of about 600,000 Jews with no air force except a few private planes defeated the attacking armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and a contingent of soldiers from Saudi Arabia.

Vivid Proof for God’s Word: When I visit the Holy Land, I see vivid proof that God’s Word will come true even if it takes a great deal of time to see its fulfillment.

+ + A mountaintop experience unlike any other!

There is no place like Israel to strengthen one’s Christian faith. Likewise, there is not a better way to embolden our future Christian leaders and foster better U.S.- Israeli relations than a Holy Land experience. That is why we launched Covenant Journey for Christian college students who have leadership potential.

Covenant Journey is a 10-day visit to Israel that introduces college-age evangelicals to the Jewish state. And it’s already making a huge impact! I’ve seen with my own eyes how it’s reaching the hearts and minds of young evangelicals – the future leaders of the American church.

Describing her experience, college student Lauren said, “I am not the same person I was when I left for Israel; my faith is deeper, stronger, and I am awakened to the geopolitical realities of the nation of Israel….”

+ + Covenant Journey provides an immersive experience in Israel that is life-changing.

Launched in 2014, we have taken over 500 students from 143 small and large Christian, private and public schools, including prestigious schools such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, and more.

Students are selected through a rigorous screening process. Then, because few, if any college students can afford an educational visit to Israel, those chosen pay only $500. The rest of the Israel experience is underwritten by donors, people like you.

Your generosity will send more of our best and brightest young evangelicals to the Jewish state and give them the worldview-shaping experience of a lifetime.

+ + We are raising up a new generation of Christian leaders through this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

God is moving among these young people and in Covenant Journey we have a ministry platform like no other to impact this generation.

• At 23, Jennifer is the youngest woman elected to the Florida House of Representatives in the history of the state. She has successfully sponsored several pro-life bills in Florida’s legislature and decided to go on a Covenant Journey tour at the end of 2015. Upon her return, and now only 24-years old, Jennifer co-sponsored a resolution opposing the Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
• Hannah is from the University of Georgia and spent her summer interning on Capitol Hill in Liberty Counsel Action’s Washington, DC, office.
• Tom spent the summer interning in Ariel, Israel, working with the Mayor’s office and developing new media and outreach programs. Erica and Nicole also spent the summer interning in Israel.

+ + Israel Advocate on Capitol Hill

Jonathan Alexandre is Liberty Counsel Action’s and CIDI’s Director of Public Policy, working on Capitol Hill in our Washington, DC, office. He went with our Liberty Ambassador Counsel tour of Israel in 2012, remaining in Israel for an entire summer. He lived in a home of Orthodox Jews and worked for the Jerusalem Center for Public Policy.

Now he advances our shared Judeo-Christian values in the nation’s capital. Our Washington, DC, office works not only with Congress, but also with various state and local legislative bodies and law makers.

While Jonathan advocates for Israel and other important issues, he also helps train college students in public policy. Covenant Journey alumni who excel in leadership and who have an interest in public policy have the option to intern in our DC office. They get firsthand, real-life experience.

+ + All these opportunities are only possible because of friends like you who give to Christians in Defense of Israel and the unique Covenant Journey program!

Truly, there is nothing like it. Students are impacted for a lifetime. It’s a powerful and transformational trip – one that builds faith and inspires students to be compelling goodwill ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people.

+ + Every Gift Matters

Every penny invested in Covenant Journey delivers a much greater long-term return, transforming students into forceful champions of Israel. And that’s urgently needed now because evangelical support for Israel is softening.

For an investment of only $3,000 per student, we can transform a young life that will have a long-term impact on the future of America and Israel.

Will you give a gift of any amount now to make that happen? No gift is too small and your gift will help keep our nation’s bond with Israel strong.

Click here or on the Covenant Journey logo to make your best gift possible.

Because this is an investment with tangible long-term benefits, I ask you to give generously today.

Thank you for your friendship and love for God’s chosen people!

P.S. In addition to what the Bible says, Israel is the United States’ greatest ally in the Middle East. Israel is the only place in the Middle East where religious liberty and democracy flourish. Our Western culture, law, policies, and Judeo-Christian values are rooted in Israel. Indeed, our Christian faith was born in Israel.

Covenant Journey is already making a huge impact. Your generosity will raise up a new generation of influential and energetic pro-Israel voices. Please give now.

Israel Coundown (55 days) (CIDI)

I have a passion to transform both Israel and America by taking the next generation of Christian leaders on a one-of-a-kind Covenant Journey. And I need your help with a critical deadline that is just 55 days away.

But first, let’s face the facts…

Hostility toward Israel is on the rise — both here in America and around the world. President Obama set U.S.-Israeli relations back at least three decades by fostering a climate of distrust between our leaders. As a result, Israel is more and more in the cross hairs of world conflict.

So how can we as Christians help restore America’s relations to Israel?

We simply must raise up a new generation of leaders! And the best way to do that is to take tomorrow’s leaders directly to the Holy Land and let them experience God’s blessing on this country.

This is precisely what our Covenant Journey program does.

Since 2014, Covenant Journey has taken over 500 college students from 143  Christian, private and public school — including prestigious schools such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Duke — on a life-changing spiritual and geo-political tour of Israel.

The stories we hear from our Covenant Journey alumni are amazing. Some have returned to Israel to work and intern. Others have taken leadership positions in Washington, D.C. One of our alumni is the youngest female member of the Florida House of Representatives and, at age 24, she co-sponsored a resolution opposing the Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

+ + My Urgent Need… And Deadline!

Covenant Journey is an absolutely critical outreach for the future of U.S-Israel relations. I truly believe we are raising up the next generation of Christian leaders who will change the course of history as it relates to Israel!

Right now, we are in final preparations for our next Covenant Journey in December. Each student who will be joining us is asked to pay a portion of the costs. The rest of the support must come from friends like you.

Our final funding deadline for the next Covenant Journey is December 1 — in 55 days. More specifically, we need about $10,000 in the next two weeks to keep us on track and moving forward.

Can I count on your help?

Will you make your most generous, tax-deductible contribution today so we can impact tomorrow’s leaders with Covenant Journey and continue other vital efforts? Go here:

CJ logo

The Covenant Journey experience transforms the worldview of tomorrow’s leaders. And we have some of the most outstanding Christian young people attending.

What I need is you.

If you love Israel and want to see a new generation of godly leaders raised up who understand God’s purposes for the Holy Land, please help.

Thank you so much for your partnership with Liberty Counsel, and your friendship with Israel.

Sincerely,

Mat Staver, President
Christians in Defense of Israel

P.S. Truly, there is nothing like it. Students are impacted for a lifetime. Covenant Journey is powerful and transformational — but we face an urgent need of $10,000 in the next two weeks to keep us on track to equip the next group of leaders in December. Please give now.

Covenant Journey’s Israel Experience Changes Lives (CIDI)

December 27, 2016

ORLANDO, FL – Christian college-age students from 23 colleges are preparing for a life-changing adventure in Israel to grow and develop their leadership potential on January 2, 2017. Led by Covenant Journey, a non-profit organization founded by Liberty Counsel, Christian millennials will be touched by a rich blend of biblical history, Jewish history, and Israel’s global technological innovations and current geopolitical challenges. These trips have already had a profound impact on the Christian faith and perspective toward Israel of students from about 170 colleges and universities. Many of these young Christian leaders have found that this journey connects them to the roots of their Christian faith and they will never read the Bible or think about Israel the same.

“The impact of a Covenant Journey experience in Israel is beyond description. Many of these students are just beginning on their leadership path and yet I already see the huge impact their deeper understanding of Israel is having around the world. Many Covenant Journey alumni say this experience has had a greater influence on them than anything else thus far,” said Mat Staver, Founder and President of Covenant Journey.

One Covenant Journey alumni, Jennifer Sullivan, was the youngest female ever elected to the Florida House of Representatives at age 23. She faced four candidates in the primary, some of whom mocked her young age and the fact that, during college, she lived at home with her parents. Her freshman year in the House, she sponsored a major pro-life bill that was signed into law in 2015. Then in January 2016, Jennifer was able to travel to Israel on the seventh Covenant Journey experience. Returning to the States on January 7, 2016, Jennifer was back in the Florida Legislator on January 11, where she helped lead the effort in Florida to pass a pro-Israel Resolution that opposed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

One student, Alexis, described her experience this way, “Not only is this trip a spiritual awakening, but it is also a political and social awakening to the trials of the Israeli people. This trip allows me the opportunity to speak on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people. The resilience and courage of this nation needs to be shared with the world and I intend to share it.” Giovanni, whose public speaker blog is ranked 24 of the top 50 on the internet, said he experienced Israel in “a more powerful way than I could have imagined.” Megan said, “I knew this trip would be a great experience, but I had no idea how much it would impact the way I read the Bible and the way my life should look as a follower of Jesus.”

The Covenant Journey tour accepts applications from college-age students who (1) are Christians, (2) have leadership potential, and (3) have some level of support for, or interest in, Israel. College students selected for the tour pay only a $500 registration fee. Everything else is covered by Covenant Journey, including flights from the United States to Tel Aviv, hotel, three meals a day, luxury bus, experienced tour guide, speakers, and all entrance fees. The next journey begins on January 2, 2017.

“The impact of Covenant Journey on the lives of Christian millennials is far beyond what we imagined. It is hard to describe. You just have to experience it,” said Staver.

Paris conference only smoke and mirrors (CIDI)

The prayers of many people around the world, including two of our own Covenant Journey alumni who were on-site in Paris, were answered this weekend.

The leaders of 70 nations intended to hurt Israel and instead ended up wasting their time and accomplishing nothing.  The survival of Israel and the Jewish people is a miracle that neither the UN nor anyone else can deny.

Christians in Defense of Israel’s I Stand United With Israel is a way of declaring your own solidarity with Israel to members of Congress.

The Paris Peace Summit, attended by officials from 70 countries on Sunday, amounted to smoke and mirrors as it failed in its stated plan to denounce Israel and recognize Palestine as a state.

Former French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius had envisioned the conference in Paris as a way of forcing Israel to accept the two-state solution. Fabius’ original proposal called for France and the other nations at the conference to recognize a Palestinian state inside Israel’s borders if an agreement was not signed between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

But the conference concluded, instead, with a plea for direct negotiations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who did not attend the summit, has repeatedly called for direct negotiations with the Palestinians without pre-conditions.

Though the final declaration made reference to the UN resolution 2334, it amended the language of the resolution that declared Israeli settlements to be “illegal.”

And, Secretary of State John Kerry promised Mr. Netanyahu that there would not be any follow-up action to the Paris conference and that Washington would oppose any further political action at the Security Council. The Prime Minister said he looks forward to a new era under President-elect Trump.

+ + There can be no lasting solution for peace until the Palestinian Authority and the Hamas government in Gaza recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Once again, the international community failed to recognize the most glaring obstacle to peace. Neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority want to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas fled Gaza and lives in Ramallah. Gaza is controlled by the terrorist organization Hamas.

After last week’s terror attack, in which a 28-year-old Palestinian ran over Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers, Hamas celebrated the murderous act by giving candy to children!  Israel has no peace partner. Anyone who tries to force Israel to commit suicide under a Hamas regime is either ignorant of the political realities or is anti-Semitic. Every nation that has tried to eliminate the Jewish people is no more.

The survival of Israel and the Jewish people is a miracle that neither the UN nor anyone else can deny.

+ + Prayers were answered!

Anita and I just returned from Israel with incredible young people from 23 colleges and universities as part of Covenant Journey, which provides a life-changing experience for Christian college-age students who have leadership potential.

Two of our Covenant Journey alumni were in Paris at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they prayed for the protection of Israel. Their prayers and the prayers of many others were answered.

Christians in Defense of Israel has been rallying friends from all over the nation to sign our I Stand United With Israel petitions in a show of solidarity. You can still add your name and be included in an upcoming delivery to Capitol Hill and other key leaders.  Click here to have your name immediately added to the petition.

As always, thank you for your prayers and for taking action with us.

God bless you.  God bless America. And God bless Israel.

U.S. Embassy Belongs in Jerusalem: The Eternal Capital of Israel (CIDI)

January 22, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump pledged to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. According to sources, President Trump will take the next important step by announcing the move on Monday.

“This is welcomed news that is long overdue. Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of Israel. Jerusalem became the capital of Israel when King David captured the Jebusite stronghold 3,000 years ago,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, President of Christians in Defense of Israel, and Founder and Chairman of Covenant Journey.

What most people fail to realize is that Congressional effort to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem is not new. On October 23, 1995, Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995. The law passed the Senate by 93-5 and the House by 374-37. The law required the embassy to be moved to Jerusalem no later than May 31, 1999. But the law was never implemented because of opposition from former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama.

“Those who oppose moving the embassy to Jerusalem argue it will hurt the so-called peace process. The fact is the Hamas terrorist government in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah do not want peace and will never recognize Israel’s right to exist. Israel does exist and Jerusalem is its capital. It is time for the United States to move the embassy to Jerusalem and lead the way for other nations to follow our example,” said Staver.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, designated as a memorial day for the six million European Jews, including 1.5 million children, that were annihilated by the Nazi regime in concentration camps across German-occupied Europe.

The primary objective of the holiday is to honor both the deceased and surviving victims as well as to promote awareness of the Holocaust worldwide. January 27 is the date, in 1945, when the largest Nazi death camp (Auschwitz-Birkenau) was liberated by Soviet troops. This camp was a network of Nazi concentration and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. It was the largest of the German concentration camps.

Mat Staver, President of Christians in Defense of Israel and Covenant Journey said, “May we always remember the millions of Jews who were needlessly murdered during the Holocaust. I have been to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust History Museum in Israel, and seen the stories of so many precious Jewish lives that were taken at the hands of the brutal Nazi regime. I have heard the stories of survivors and the horrendous torture they endured. It is an honor for me to remember this day when the survivors were finally liberated. As Christians, we stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters. We remember, and pledge – never again,” said Staver.

In order to raise awareness of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the World Jewish Congress has asked people around the world to post pictures of themselves holding a sign that reads, “We Remember,” in their language, to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, alongside the hashtag #WeRemember.

Ambassador to Israel Nominee is the Right Person for the Job

Feb 2, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – About 70 Christian leaders met on Tuesday with David Friedman, President Donald Trump’s nominee as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel. “David Friedman is the right person to represent the United States to Israel,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, President of Christians in Defense of Israel, and Founder and President of Covenant Journey.

Friedman is an Orthodox Jew whose father was a rabbi. Ronald Reagan spoke at his father’s synagogue. While some who oppose him argue that he has divided loyalties because of his Israel and U.S. citizenship, his dual citizenship is actually a plus. “Friedman loves Israel and he loves America. He is a citizen of both and intimately understands both nations,” said Staver.

“We have a historic opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the United States and Israel. This opportunity to forge stronger bonds between the two nations could not come at a more critical time,” said Staver.

For 50 years, the United States has attempted to force upon Israel a failed land for peace policy. Giving control over Gaza to the Palestinian Authority has resulted in the Hamas terrorist government takeover. Jews can no longer live in Gaza. Bethlehem is no longer a safe place for Christians, and signs at the entrance warn Jews not to enter. “It is time to honor Israel’s right to self-determination and to stop imposing our failed solutions on the sovereign state of Israel,” said Staver.

“The time has long since come to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, the eternal and undivided capital of Israel,” said Staver. “Jerusalem was established by King David as the capital of Israel 3,000 years ago. To not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel defies the historical record and is anti-Semitic. I urge President Trump to move the Embassy to Jerusalem. Delay or failure to move the Embassy to Jerusalem will be seen as a sign of weakness that will embolden those intent on wiping Israel off the map. As soon as possible, I urge the Senate to confirm David Friedman as the Ambassador to Israel,” concluded Staver.

Netanyahu’s Meeting with President Signals Support for Israel

Feb. 15, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Less than one month since the inauguration, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump. Unlike the failed policies of the past going back to 1967, Trump refused to pressure Israel into a so-called two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Trump stated he would support whatever solution was agreed upon between the parties.

Trump promised during the campaign that he would move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, but he has received some push back from some sectors that want to maintain the status quo.

“The opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the United States and Israel could not come at a more critical time,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, President of Christians in Defense of Israel, and Founder and President of Covenant Journey. “Since Lyndon Johnson, Republican and Democratic presidents have tried to impose a two-state solution on Israel as a means to achieving peace. But dividing land will not bring peace. The 1993 Oslo Accords only served to give birth to a terrorist government in the Palestinian Authority, which opened the door for Hamas ruling in Gaza. Neither the Palestinian Authority nor Hamas want peace. They want to rename the entire land to Palestine and they do not want any Jews. When they do not recognize Israel’s right to exist and pledge in their constitutions to wipe out Israel and the Jewish people, a mere parcel of land here or there will not bring peace,” said Staver. “I urge President Trump to keep his promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, the undivided capital of Israel,” said Staver.

Covenant Journey Student Helps Conga to World Record

OSWEGO, NY – Justin Dobrow, an alumni of a Covenant Journey trip to Israel, played an important role in helping State University of New York at Oswego (SUNY) students set a new Guinness World Record today during the Today Show’s Roker-thon. Two students also received $5,000 scholarships as part of the world record for longest conga line of 593 participants.

The prior world record was 350, and today, the SUNY students broke the record at 593 while performing a conga line on ice skates for five minutes with no one falling and breaking the line.

Justin, a student at SUNY at Oswego, accepted the award along with the school president from Al Roker, the weatherman on the Today Show. He previously created a video on behalf of the school for NBC to recruit Al Roker back to his alma mater and managed the Today Show Snapchat during the event.

In November 2014, Roker embarked on what was called “Roker-thon,” in which he did a non-stop, 34-hour weather forecast on NBC, from 10:05 PM on November 12th until about 8:00 AM on November 14th. The event was a fundraiser for the Crowdrise Campaign to help the military and USO. He repeated the event in “Roker-thon 2,” this time reporting weather from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. in one week from November 6 to November 13, 2015, in support of Feeding America. Today was the final day of “Roker-thon 3,” where college students were challenged to attempt to break a Guinness World Record such as the longest conga line on ice and largest human letter.

“We are so proud of Justin Dobrow and all of his efforts to help make this Guinness World Record happen today,” said Mat Staver, President of Covenant Journey and Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “Our Covenant Journey alumni are making an impact on their campuses and Justin is a great example.”

In 2014, Covenant Journey began the first of many trips to Israel for Christian college-age students who have leadership potential. Qualified students pay $500 and the rest of the trip is underwritten, including air fare from New York, hotels, three meals a day, luxury tour bus, entrance fees, expert guides, spiritual leaders, and expert speakers.

U.S. Senators Demand Equal Treatment for Israel at U.N.

Apr 28, 2017

WASHINGTON – All 100 U.S. senators signed a letter asking U.N. Secretary General António Guterres to address and correct the unequal treatment by the United Nations against Israel.

Authored by Senators Marco Rubio and Christopher A. Coons, the senators state they are “united in their desire to see the United Nations improve its treatment of Israel and to eliminate anti-Semitism in all its forms. We are deeply committed to international leadership and to advancing respect for human rights. But continued targeting of Israel by the U.N. Human Rights Council and other U.N. entities is unacceptable.”

The senators asked Guterres to make such institutional changes such as the removal of a standing agenda item in the U.N. Human Rights Commission sessions that has been used as a forum to denounce Israel. The senators also want a change to the rules for membership on the human rights panel to broaden participation beyond what U.S. officials have said is often a narrow and self-interested group of countries.

This bipartisan demand letter comes in time for the vote on the anti-Israel UNESCO resolution on Tuesday, which also coincides with Israel’s Independence Day. This clearly anti-Semitic motion — drafted by Arab states on behalf of the Palestinians — targets the Jewish state’s sovereignty over its capital city and denies any Jewish connection to key holy sites in Bethlehem and Hebron. Part of the proposed UN resolution reads: “Any action taken by Israel, the Occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever.”

“This letter, signed by every U.S. senator, sends a clear message to the U.N. to finally honor Israel’s right as a state and to stop imposing failed ideas on the Israeli people,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, President of Christians in Defense of Israel, and Founder and President of Covenant Journey. “I urge Secretary Guterres and the U.N. to stop the anti-Semitic assault against Israel and its citizens. The time is long overdue to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, the eternal and undivided capital of Israel,” said Staver.

Historic Day – White House Celebrates Israel Independence Day

May 3, 2017

WASHINGTON — Yesterday, the White House made history by celebrating Israel’s Independence Day. “This day is historic in the history of America and Israel. The message coming out of the White House is that America stands with Israel and the Jewish people,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, President of Christians in Defense of Israel, and Founder and President of Covenant Journey.

Vice President Mike Pence spoke from the heart of his love and respect for Israel. He quoted Scripture and repeated several times that President Trump stands with Israel and will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people. “The message that President Trump stands with Israel came across loud and clear. I was encouraged to hear the Vice President speak so passionately about Israel. He said President Trump is currently considering moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem,” said Staver.

The room of Christian and Jewish leaders erupted with applause. Pence also said that President Trump will not allow Iran to become a nuclear power.

The newly confirmed U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, addressed a receptive group of Christian and Jewish leaders, including Senator Ted Cruz, Congressmen Trent Franks and Peter King. The Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, also spoke.

The final speaker was Sen. Orrin Hatch. Sen. Hatch’s genuine love for Israel was apparent in his speech. He said for 40 years he has worn a mezuzah around his neck to remind him to pray for Israel and the Jewish people.

“It was an honor to be in the White House with the blessing of the President and Vice President united with Christians and Jews in support of Israel. This was truly a historic day. The history and heritage of America and our faith are united with Israel. Our destiny is united with Israel,”
said Staver.

Covenant Journey Connects Students with Christian Roots

May 12, 2017

ORLANDO, FL — Covenant Journey students, following the footsteps of Jesus in the Holy Land, were featured recently on the Why Israel Matters original television series on Trinity Broadcasting Network.  The “Footsteps” episode, hosted by Mat Staver, Founder and President of Covenant Journey and Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, provides a glimpse of the Covenant Journey experience in the Holy Land for Christian, college-age students who are leaders on their campuses and in their communities.

This month, Covenant Journey begins the third year of experiential summer tours of Israel for Christian, college-age students from over 230 colleges and universities. The students are from small and large Christian, private, and public colleges and universities, including Ivy League schools, such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth and more.

Covenant Journey provides a life-changing experience with the primary goals to strengthen students’ Christian faith and equip them to be goodwill ambassadors for Israel. Qualified students pay $500 and the rest of the trip is underwritten, including air fare from New York, hotels, three meals a day, luxury tour bus, entrance fees, expert guides, spiritual leaders and expert speakers.

“An alarming number of young people walk away from their Christian faith following high school, and when this happens, they always disconnect from Israel,” said Staver. “Covenant Journey immerses students in the land of the Bible and connects them to the roots of our Christian faith. The Bible and Jesus become more real and meaningful. And, of course, in learning about ancient and modern Israel and the Jewish people, the students fall in love with and become advocates for Israel,” said Staver.

Covenant Journey is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ministry affiliated with Liberty Counsel. For more information, visit www.CovenantJourney.org or call 407-875-1967.
